DELHI: KHUSHWANT SINGH
Several
persons told me at least once in life time to read this novel authored by
Khuswant Singh as it is one of his best creations where literary outpouring
ceaselessly happen without an impede can be seen. I was totally amazed to see
this. Such a beautiful structure of sentences has been seen. In literary circle,
this novel is rated in grading as top most; so far as concerned to literary an
aura.
With the course of the passing of the
time, it lost its buzz; reason unknown. And it was out of the view for a long
time from everywhere. Absolutely had lost the hope for getting this but mind
had built an aesthetic monument of this relying upon literary thinker having an
acclaimable perception of this. At random found this book at my son’ school held
book festival where it was lying in a far corner being noticed by none. Finding
this was instantly very much startling as since long was longing for this.
Bought this without sparing a moment. Later, although was curious very much but
professional commitment of day to days ever prevailed upon me. As such, it was
lying idle for months vying for my attention. Strangely, lockdown happened and
things begun to tumble out unexpectedly one after and another. Lockdown brought
with itself an aura of the self-imposed strict confinement; so, thought struck to
immerse myself into this. To begin initially seemed difficult as if it seemed
little boring while commencing to reading this. At later, desire lit up and its
flair begin to get huge intensity. So, zeal for reading unto last resulted into
a wild fire which doused only at the end by virtue of completion. At last,
thirst quenched following of reading of this.
So, chose to immerse myself in DELHI as
similarly others find their sojourn in else. Right now, it tempted me so much;
that compelled me to finish off within short duration of time.
Reality of bygone yesteryears has been
deliberately hidden from us. It is needful as of now to decode of those
nefarious things committed by past rulers one after another beginning from
eleventh century. In fact, it was atrocities relentlessly inflicted upon innocent
people who were not Muslim. One thing is very horrible to come across that all Muslim
rulers following of Prithvi Raj Chauhan were ruthless and very much cruel.
Their extent of cruelty knew no boundary. Almost all were least fair ruler but
on the other hand they were perpetrators of the heinous cruelty, gross
discrimination and very much sexually corrupt even until their moment of death.
Most of them were more like looter and missionary of propagator of their
religion like a fundamentalist zealot. Intellectualism was far away from them.
All an odd and devil things were present in them. It is very difficult to
assess how people survived themselves during their regime, when such criminal
minded person used to be their king. At random, people used to be executed in
mass. Massacre used to happen often. There were no fairness or principle for
them. There was nothing, to which one can adhere. I do not say that all Muslim
used to be like them but most of them were so. Time is apt to say that if one
can seek an apology for an incident like Jalianwalabagh or voice can be raised
for seeking monetary compassion from British government against their erstwhile
predecessor for ruling over us for almost two hundred years. In this context, China
often demand an apology from Japan. So, hatred is not going be spread. Happened reality in mature way be shown to
public about their way of dealing with other people belonging to different
religions. History of eight hundred years including of British onward from
eleventh century should be told to people in epic form. Muslim should also
instantly join in order to condemn of those who always used to do massacre and
on whim and fancy used to chop off the head and dismember of limbs on large
scale. Most of the Muslim should come out in large numbers and should say
boldly that they were wrong. In fact, these ruler during by gone eight hundred
years crossed all limitation of cruelty known to all. They had no respect
towards each and other even in their family. It was general phenomenon to
murder of their siblings following of accession to the throne of the king with
a view that no one should challenge them.
